Counseling is an important step forward for
many people. Finding and working with the right counselor is one of
the most essential first steps in this journey. Most of the people I
work with are having issues that are causing them problems. This can
include relationship issues, marital issues, life changes,
addictions, recovery from grief and loss, as well as learning to
cope with traumatic experiences.
I have significant experience working with individual and family
issues. My goal with clients starts with understanding where you are
dissatisfied and helping identify the root causes. We work together
cooperatively to identify the issues you are struggling with and
find ways to make things better. This may include working with your
family, your partner, or other people involved in your life. Our
focus is on helping you, your partner, and your family become
happier and more fulfilled. My approach is integrative and is
informed by extensive study in several models of therapy.
I have an extensive background working with these challenges and I would like to sit down and talk with you about what we might do together to work through them. If medications are appropriate I can work with you and your psychiatrist or MD as part of a treatment team.
Life is hard enough and much of the strength we draw comes from our families and community. If your family is out of sorts this can have a huge impact on other aspects of your life. Coming to counseling is not about being "broken" it is about improving your situation and finding new alternatives, awareness, and insights in how to build a glorious life for yourself and those you care about.
Marriage counseling can be a fun and interesting exploration of who your partner is and who they are becoming. You may not know your partner as well as you think you do. Individual counseling is intended to help you get in touch with the inner truths about yourself and to make peace often with your past.
